SMART Srl propose on the marketplace several products and service supplied by ourselves or through a closer partnership with the most important HW vendor like SUN, IBM, NETAPP, INTEL, SEIL, SUPERMICRO, PLANAR.

SMART Srl follows the Data Grid Project 0 funded by European Union. The objective is to build the next generation computing infrastructure. It will provide intensive computation and analysis of shared large-scale databases, from hundreds of TeraBytes to PetaBytes, across widely distributed scientific communities. Only in Italy this infrastructure includes 20 sites on which also ESA-ESRIN the principal SMART customer.

HPC and Storage architectures represent for SMART the core business.

 

Planning, realization and maintenance of complete HW/SW architectures:

HPC - Linux Cluster for DATA PROCESSING based on the following two main architectures:

• TRADITIONAL – with the traditional Server Rack Mount and with separate network and KVM switch
• LAST GENERATION –BLADE SERVER architecture. This solution allow a reduction of the space and power requirement . Moreover the integration of the Network e KVM switch allow a significant reduction of the system management and maintenance.

SMART supplies “turn-key” systems. They are delivered to the customer already pre-installed and cabled.

The operating system usually configured is Linux between the several available distributions. In any case the configuration is defined with the customer on the base of his necessity and the HW/SW compatibility.

 

HIGH CAPACITY STORAGE SYSTEMS

• TAPE LIBRARY

The “File-Server – NAS” storage systems have both the peculiarity of the NAS and SERVER systems – HIGH STORAGE CAPACITY AND COMPUTING CAPACITY.

These systems are easy to integrate in every network infrastructure and they reach a storage capacity, in SATA technology, of 48Tb in a single stand-alone system and up to 160TB in modular solutions.

HIGH AVALABILITY STORAGE SYSTEM

This architecture represents the SMART proposal for a low cost HIGH AVALABILITY storage architecture. It includes two common NAS system configured with specific HA software. The architecture include two NAS (primary and secondary) located in two site. The NAS installed in the secondary (remote) site is configured for synchronous back up This architecture guarantees a constant access to the data and the integrity of the data in case of a failure of one NAS.

 

Some of the projects realized
