This architecture represents the SMART proposal for a low cost HIGH AVALABILITY storage architecture: it includes two common NAS system configured with specific HA software.
Each NAS is configured like one logical volume with a useful capacity approximately of 3.5TB in RAID 6 configuration (double disks parity). On top of that is present an ext3 or XFS file system mounted like /HA-DATA and offered on the network to several remote NFS clients.
The NAS installed in the secondary remote site system is configured for synchronous back up the /HA-DATA file system. This system is able to be allocated at remote site. Primary NAS, Secondary NAS are connected each other through 4 Gigabit copper interface in load balancing configuration.
This architecture guarantees a constant access to the data and the integrity of the data in case of a failure of one NAS.

The proposed modular architecture in NAS technology represent the SMART proposal for the “Storage on Demand” philosophy.
Modular Storage architecture scales to meet the customer future needs. As the customer data expands, the modular architecture expand with it. Simply adding up to 10 x JBOD expansion modules of 16HD each, protecting the original storage investment.
The system include a “Storage Head” who manage the JBOD enclosure through a SAS connectivity. The system is connect to the network though the a Copper or FC link.
